Tuesday Trends : 2015 Home Trends

Hello Everyone! Happy Tuesday!

Time to start our home decor style conversations….

Well you’ve made it over 2 weeks into 2015, and by now you have packed and stored all your holiday decor. (Don’t worry… No judgement here if you are still staring at holiday boxes in a corner)…. Your home is clean and you’re in organization mode…Your home has reverted back to its natural state …..
Before you decide to light a candle, pour a glass of wine, and feel good about yourself, remind yourself that this is a new year! A fresh start! Not only do you want to make a better you in 2015, you should challenge yourself to freshen up your home/space. You could start by simply rearranging your furniture, switching out pillows, switching out accessories, updating pictures in frames, or you could invest in some in some of these 2015 home trends.

Pantone color of the year for 2015 is Marsala, and if you are like me you aren’t dying to cover your home in this red-burgundy hue. I do love the warmth it gives, but I feel you have to be careful when using red tones. To me you could use this color to inject pops of dramatic color. And, with Valentine’s Day around the corner …. Well, that’s a post coming up, stay tuned. I love how Vogue’s (@voguemagazine) feature uses textiles to showcase this color.

According to House beautiful these colors will be making appearances for the year.

For those of you working on a renovation or picking out hardware for a new home, you can stop feeling bad for wanting those gold light pendants …. Gold is popping up on the trend list.  My personal opinion is gold can look cheap if it is over used or isn’t quality. I would say to keep it simple by picking a room (powder room, kitchen, office, etc.) to use your gold fixture/hardware, not in every room (unless you are wanting that Versace look). The right piece can make a statement and look classic and regal.

This isn’t a new thing, cowhides have just top of the 2015 list for home accessories. I personally LOVE it! You can incorporate a cowhide rug with any decor, it is so versatile. This year you will see it not only on rugs and pillows, but in other home accessories.

Wallpaper is continuing to make a comeback. And, I’m ok with this.
This allows you to have endless options to dress your walls. You can warm up a room with textured wallpaper, add some glamour to a small guest bathroom with metallic wallpaper, or just a whimsical touch to a nursery.

Agates! I didn’t find these on any list, but designers are incorporating them more and more in their designs everywhere. I took the liberty to add them ;)! These are absolutely gorgeous accessories! They can add that pop of color you need, and are great statement pieces. Z Gallerie has some great options.

Everyone who knows me knows that white carrara marble will complete my life, but I am loving how marble is popping up in home accessories. This is a much more affordable way to feel like I have marble.

(my contribution to the 2015 home trend)
It is my personal goal to fire start this trend. It is a classic, timeless design that has been around forever. I know some might find it stuffy and not practical, but a paneled wall can add depth and drama to any room. It can complement modern decor, a country chic style, or a traditional furnishing. It leaves your walls commanding attention even without a thing hung on the wall.

(Stayed tuned for a Ritz-August DIY.)

Always Style’n Homes,

No matter what trends are in style, the only important trend is the one that makes you happy!
